Federal Emergency Broadband Benefit Program

For qualifying households, this program offers a monthly discount of up to $50 on broadband internet service. Households in Hawaiian Home Lands are eligible to apply for a monthly enhanced benefit of up to $75.

Spectrum's Internet Assist

The goal of this plan is to increase low-income households' access to high-speed internet. More than $400 million has also been given to Hawaii to promote universal access and digital literacy.


  • Hawaii's FCC Program offers qualifying households a monthly internet bill discount of up to $30.

  • Hawaiian Home Lands households are eligible for up to $75 a month in assistance. Additionally, the ACP provides a one-time savings of up to $100 on a tablet, desktop, or laptop.

  • Notified that it would receive a $740,000 federal grant, the State of Hawaii's Department of Business, Economic Development, and Tourism (DBEDT) will engage in outreach for the FCC Program, the biggest internet affordability initiative in the country's history, which will be overseen by the Hawaii Broadband and Digital Equity Office (HBDEO).

Hawaii Internet Access and Digital Fairness

  • ✔   With the aim of achieving digital equity and adoption for all Hawaii residents, HBDEO was founded within the State of Hawaii Department of Business, Economic Development & Tourism. Its primary responsibility is to support and coordinate the statewide deployment of broadband internet access.


  • ✔   The coordination, implementation, funding, management, and promotion of programs that guarantee the fair distribution of digital technologies and offer avenues to enhance Hawaii's competitiveness in the digital economy are among the duties performed by HBDEO.
